This would not be a good idea for any modern home network because WEP is too easy to hack. This does not support WPA, which is much more secure than WEP.
Adapter is very easy to install. I ordered the Linksys WUSB11 Wireless-B Adapter from Deal Barn to replace one that had been broken. Thank you Deal Barn for the excellent service and Thank you Amazon for the quick shipping and expediting of the product. Just follow the simple instructions provided in the box. I was amazed at how fast the transaction and shipping took place. From the time I placed the order to the time I installed the part was less than a week.
My computer was upand running with this unit in less than ten minutes This adaptor was very easy to install.
It was a cinch to set up and works fine. Fast service and no problems with product. This is an older version, Wireless-B, but I wanted to match it with one on another computer I already had been using.
I get 54mbps on my laptop but only 11mbps with my desktop. I like Linksys a lot but I'm a little dissappointed in the USB card adapted. I run my laptop that has built in wireless side by side with my desktop that doesn't.
